In 1989, Ringo Starr did something he hadn't done since 1966 - Tour! With the help of David Fishof, he put together the Ringo All-Starr Band. The concept was to have a band of top musicians, all share the stage and play each other's hits, with Ringo as ring leader. Not only did it work, it is a formula that is still going strong SEVEN All Starr Bands later.
This first All-Starr
lineup included: Ringo, Joe Walsh, Nils Lofgren, Clarence Clemons, Levon Helm,
Rick Danko, Dr. John, Billy Preston, and Jim Keltner
Though not part of this very first incarnation of the All-Starrs, Zak Starkey did sit in a few times, occupying Dad's kit - the center kit of three, with Levon Helm to his right, Jim Keltner to his left - during the numbers where Ringo is busy singing down in front.

The Tour traveled the US from July 23rd-Sept 4th, 1989, and on to Japan from Oct 30th-Nov 8th, 1989. Known dates where Zak sat in on drums for one or more songs: Aug 11th - Holmdel NJ; Sept 2nd - Costa Mesa CA; Sept 3rd & 4th - LA, CA. Plans were in the works (and even a few dates in France and Finland announced) for the tour to resume in 1990 throughout Europe, but that leg of the tour never materialized. The shows at The Greek Theatre, Los Angeles - Sept 3-4, 1989, were filmed and recorded.
Portions of the Sept 3rd performance (including IDCE, NNS, YS, Photo, & WALHFMF all with Zak) were part of InConcert: Ringo Starr And His All-Starr Band, broadcast April 15, 1990 on the Power Station channel of British Satellite Broadcasting. These same performances were later included on the commercial video release.
A number of releases use material that includes Zak from this show:
