Zak Starkey's Work with:
Rexx & Johnson

""|  summary  |  releases  |  live  |

Desi Rexx was the lead singer /guitarist in a group from the late 80's-90's band called D'Molls. While playing guitar for the first leg of David Lee Roth's 1991 tour, he first et Zak backstage at Wembley.

Rexx & Johnson was formed later in 1991 when Desi joined forces with Danny Johnson (ex-guitarist for Rick Derringer, Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper, True Life, current guitarist for Steppenwolf). Doug Fieger (lead singer for The Knack) was co-producing the band along with Don Was.

It was at Doug Fieger's suggestion that they give Zak a call to try him out as their drummer, as Doug and Zak were friends. According to Desi "Zak flew in to L.A. from London to try things out with us. Wow! What a treat that was! He's got incredible song sense, comes up with the very best drum parts, plays them flawlessly every time he plays them, never tries to steal the show, and is one of the nicest, most level-headed guys with whom I've had the pleasure of working."

Unfortunately, Rexx & Johnson never did get a record deal, so none of the sessions have been released.

If you can add to the story, please do!

Desi Rexx is currently (late summer 2006) at work on a new CD, with Chip Z'nuff (bassist for E'Nuff Z'Nuff) producing. Hopefully, if timing works out, Zak will be participating on a track or two says Desi!

Stay Tuned ...
