MusicMaker.Com - April 10, 2000
This
is the exclusive online only CD that was launched April 10, 2000 at (the now defunct)
MusicMaker.com. It features selections from the band's 1999
performances at The House of Blues, Chicago and The Shepherds Bush Empire
in London. Through Musicmaker.com, customers can order a pre-assembled, complete
2 CD set or they could customize their own CD as they please. PLEASE NOTE: At
the time of it's release (1) Even the standard, pre-assembled CD set was on CDRs!
- UNLIKE the standard Page/Black Crows discs which were actual PRESSED CD's! (2)
The songs are "banded" - audience fades in and out at the start and end of each
track (3) The packaging - 2 separate CD cases, with identical inserts - rather
than a slimline 2 CD case with comprehensive notes. There is no attempt to identify
which songs are from which shows, and the graphics are less than spectacular.
Basically, the sound, feel and presentation are that of an "official bootleg".
Song List: I Can't Explain, Substitute, Anyway Anyhow Anywhere, Pinball Wizard, My Wife, Baba O'Riley, Pure and Easy, You Better You Bet, I'm A Boy, Getting In Tune, The Real Me, Behind Blue Eyes, Magic Bus, Boris The Spider, After The Fire, Who Are You, 5:15, Won't Get Fooled Again, The Kids Are Alright, My Generation
Quite some time AFTER the initial release, Music Maker DID release a PRESSED CD version, housed in a slimline double jewel box. No additional liner notes or differences. It also seems this same pressed/slimline version was part of the TCT swag given out at The Royal ALbert Hall gig in Nov of 2000.
The World premier of this 2 hour internet/radio special was webcast on April 13 through SFX.com. [no longer available]
The special featured interviews with Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle, all giving their firsthand account of HOB Chicago and SBE London 1999 shows from which the new Musicmaker.com CD was created.
This special was distributed to radio stations by SFX/The Album Network as a 2-CD program with cue sheetsLast Updated:
