2005 Video
Shoots
March 18 2005 - Lyla video
March 18 2005
- The video for Lyla, directed by Tim Qualtrough, was filmed at
The Round Chapel in Hackney, East London. The band played live
for the shoot, and in between was jamming and mucking about. They also played
an impromtu version of My Generation. The locals in the audience were treated
to a private Oasis gig!
The audience was solicited by the production company
by posting on london.craigslist.org on the 16th!!!:
Oasis Music
Promo
Date: 2005-03-16, 7:28PM GMT/BST
We are shooting a music promo for
a high profile band this friday. We are looking for loads of people between 4pm
and 11pm to be part of the crowd. No fee involved, but great experience.
The
video had its world premiere 11:05pm on Channel 4 (UK), April 6th.
May 17 2005 - The Importance of
Being Idle video
May 17 2005 -
video shoot for The Importance of Being Idle took place in
London, and had its premeire on Channel 4 (UK) 7:55pm on July 1.
It features Rhys Ifans as a dear departed undertaker, "attending" his
own funeral procession. The band is really only in it for seconds here and there.
June 02 2005 - video shoot for Sky Sports
The Meaning Of Soul is being used for the 2005-2006 FA Premier league football
season Sky Sports promotional campaign. The 30 second spot mixes the band's performance
and stage effects with Sky Sports football footage. The promo was directed by
Ian Duke and John Grint, produced by Nick Canham. The band was recorded during
sound check (City of Manchester gig July 2) for stage shots that featured football
highlights on the large projection screens behind the band. [Note that Zak has
a dark shirt under his jacket for the sky sports footage, and Liam has rather
faded jeans, while for the actual show, Zak wore a white shirt under his jacket
and Liam's jeans were a not-so faded blue. Audience shots were taken during the
actual show.
The promo was said to premeire July 13th, however it was seen
during various events very early on in July.
June - Sept
2005 - video shoot for Let There Be Love
Apparently
much of the tour has been subjected to a behind-the-scenes, fly-on-the-wall, reality-tv-like
filming for an upcoming documentary called "Lord Don't Slow Me Down",
recorded by "renowned promo director Baillie Walsh". The video for the
band's third single, "Let There Be Love" was compiled from this footage.
The
Video had its world premiere Nov 2, 2005 on Channel 4 (UK) at 11PM. (even though
it was shown earlier on Japanese tv, and on MTV Italy when Noel guested!)
2005
TV & Radio Appearances
- April 2 2005 - Rumor of Oasis
gig at Air Studios
- was to have happened sometime during Apr to be
aired on VH2 [UK] at future date. So far it hasn't!
- May 6 2005 (UK)
- Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
- 10:45pm-11:45pm BBC1/Midlands1
"A mix of music and celebrity chat with Jonathan Ross. Jonathan welcomes
Oasis with an exclusive live appearance in the studio performing their new single

Recorded Thurday, May 5th - The band performed Lyla and My Generation.

- Filming
of the band for future airing took place 2:30pm Sat May 7th at Riverside Studios
in Hammersmith. Oasis was filmed miming to Lyla, The Importance of Being
Idle, Let There Be Love and Mucky Fingers. According to an audience
member, Noel jokingly called the 60 or so people in the crowd "thieving c*nts"
as everyone was singing the words, even though 3 songs had yet to be released
officially. Each song done twice over for the benefit of camera angles. The program,
usually shown on Saturdays, was shown instead on Sunday May 9 due to F1 coverage.
Oasis was NOT featured on that broadcast, but was promo'd as coming up the next
week (May 14th), Lyla expected to air.
Air date(s):
May 14th(UK):
Lyla was aired
May 14 (CD:Live:Italy): Lyla was promo'd ahead of time even

- May 13th - Top Of The Pops (air

- Listed in the schedule
as a "live performance", it was again a mimed version of Lyla.
- May 22, 2005 - BBC Radio Studios, Maida Vale, London
- Apparently
an Acoustic set to be recorded in the afternoon, that presumably will be broadcast
at a later date.
- May 23, 2005 - BBC Radio 1 - Chapham Grand Radio Broadcast
- They
were originally scheduled to broadcast the PARIS show LIVE, but due to pending
strike action scheduled for the same day (and which did happen) they instead changed
plans and aired a recording of the 5/22 Chapham Grand London gig, during Lamacq
Live - Headline Set. The entire gig WAS NOT broadcast - Bring It On Down, Morning
Glory, Cigarettes & Alcohol, A Bell Will Ring, Meaning Of Soul, Mucky Fingers,
Champagne Supernova, Rock N Roll Star, Songbird, Wonderwall, Dont Look Back In
Anger, My Generation
- May 23, 2005 - RTL2 (FR)- Paris Live Radio Broadcast
- It
was still expected that the Paris gig will be broadcast on French radio - was
it??
- May 27, 2005 - MTV Italy - "Live @Supersonic" - Milan
TV Broadcast
- MTV Italy showed PART of the Alcatraz, Milan gig. Lyla,
Bring It On Down, Morning Glory, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Stop Crying Your Heart
Out, The Importance Of Being Idle, Live Forever, Meaning Of Soul, Mucky Fingers,
Champagne Supernova, Rock N Roll Star, Songbird, Wonderwall, Dont Look Back In
Anger, My Generation. MTV UK will broadcast a version of this Milan Show starting
May 29th, and MTV Germany will broadcast a version on June 7th. The rumor is that MTV Italy will EVENTUALLY show the ENTIRE show.
- May 28, 2005 - Sky TV "The Box" Oasis Special
- This
special was basically an edit of the EPK/Lyla/DBTT DVD footage, with added "behind
the scenes" of the Lyla video shoot. Apparently the same program shown on "The Hits" the same day.
- May 29, 2005 - UK MTV2 and VH2 - Oasis Live In Milan
- Only
44 mins of the Milan footage was shown during these UK broadcasts. Bring It On
Down, Morning Glory, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, A Bell
Will Ring, Meaning Of Soul, Mucky Fingers, Champagne Supernova, Songbird, Wonderwall,
Dont Look Back In Anger.
- June 2, 2005 - Canal+ (France) - "20H10
Pentantes"
- Sean Connery is a main guest on this talk-show type
program. About 14 minutes into his 19 minute segment, Oasis perform Lyla (mimed)
did Zak leave his jacket at the hotel?
- June 3, 2005
- Channel 4 (UK TV) - "4Music Presents ... Oasis"
- (11:40pm
- 12:15am) "Oasis exclusively perform tracks from their fifth studio album

this Dutch talk show and performed LIVE (as in NOT MIMED!) Lyla and Don't Look
Back In Anger.
- June
4th - Studio Brussel FM (BE)
- Studio Brussel was all set to broadcast
the Ancienne, Brussels concert live. It
was promo'd as such on the web, and on the radio, and all day June 4th. Two hours
before the show, word came that they were NOT going to be allowed to broadcast
LIVE, but hinted that they may be able to broadcast it later, meaning that it
was still being recorded. One announcer apparently told listeners that Noel said
Liam's voice isn't good enough to be heard live! [think about that statement
for a moment - what about the live audience at the venue ?! - kvt].
Seems
that they ARE broadcasting the recording after all - and NOT the entire gig:
Turn Up The Sun, Lyla, Bring It On Down, Morning Glory, Cigarettes & Alcohol,
Little By Little, The Importance of Being Idle, A Bell Will Ring, Live Forever,
The Meaning of Soul, Mucky Fingers, Champagne Supernova
(note that PureFM
also aired the encore of :Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, My Generation,
but Studio Brussel did not!). - June 5, 2005 - T4 (UK Channel 4) 8:55AM
- Another
Oasis appearance - this time miming to Part of The Queue
- June
6, 2005 - Radio 1 (Berlin, DE) - Live Broadcast
- The Berlin gig had
been promoted as going to be broadcast live for some time. Then came the statement
from Radio Eins on the day of the show: "Die geplante Liveübertragung
des Konzertes auf radioeins kann leider nicht stattfinden)" - translation:
"The scheduled live broadcast of the concert on Radio Eins can regrettfully
not take place." However, they have been saying the gig will be taped, and
possibly aired in a few weeks time.
- June 7, 2005 - Pro7 (German TV)
- TOTAL TV
- Oasis scheduled to perform Lyla on this, uh, wacky TV show
...
They performed Lyla LIVE, and there was an interview after the song (Zak
did not participate). Says someone who attended the taping "Liam was ace, Noel was bored,
Andy was funny".
- June 11 - DASDING WebRadio - Oasis
Southside Set Webcast
- Hear the Oasis set Saturday Night, (technically

with a few tracks from the CD inbetween, and then a small live acoustic set featuring

A Film crew was there, but there was no live radio or webradio
broadcast of this show by WBCN on the day of the show. HOWEVER, a 'greatest hists'
55 minute edit was aired as part of BCN's "Live Lunch" on July 29th.

- The original broadcast announcement
was per a DBTT mailing list flyer and was originally scheduled to air on July
3rd - and at the time is was unclear it was to be a LIVE broadcast of the 3rd,
or if they are recording the 2nd for airing on the 3rd. As the end of June approached,
the fact that other previously announced "live" broadcasts were axed,
and that the show was nowhere to be found in the Channel 4 TV listings, fans'
hopes were starting to dim. Finally it appeared in TV Listings for JULY 9TH. But,
as feared, the entire gig WAS NOT aired at that time. They aired: Turn Up The
Sun (partial into bit of the barrier break delay, no boob fest), Turn Up the Sun,

admitted that they had indeed recorded the HMH gig, but the band forbid them to
broadcast it as they thought it was "absolutely awful". Band management
