Zak Starkey's work on The Crowd's: |
On May 11, 1985 a football stand caught fire and killed 55 people and injured some 200. This was Ex-Pacemaker Gerry Marsden's project to benefit the Bradford City Disaster Fund, a new recording of the old hit Pacemaker's hit "You'll Never Walk Alone" which apparently had been adopted as the theme song of some football clubs (please excuse my UK 'football' ignorance). Featuring a cast of thousands calling themselves "The Crowd" that included names like Denny Laine, Phil Lynott, Rick Wakeman, Motorhead, John Entwistle, Eddie Hardin, Joe Fagin, Paul McCartney, Kiki Dee, Girls School, and Zak Starkey, it was recorded May 20, 1985 and released May 24, 1985.
Released as a 7" single and a 12" single Produced By Graham Gouldman, Executive Producer Ray Levy | |
